Hope and Change…

Read Job 11

Focus on verses 13-20

Back in 2008 a senator by the name of Barrack Obama was elected as President of the United States on the slogan “Hope and Change”. This slogan appealed especially to people who felt marginalized by the current establishment of that time. Over the past six years America has seen a significant amount of change, however it does not appear to have inspired a lot of hope. Many are disillusioned because the change they had hoped for did not materialize as they had envisioned.

There is a kind of change that brings genuine hope, but it is not the kind of change that can be brought about by politicians. The kind of change that gives birth to hope is an inner change that begins with repentance. Job’s friend Zophar describes how this change is brought about. “If you prepare your heart, you will stretch out your hands toward him (God). If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, (repent of sin) and do not let injustice dwell in your tents. (change of lifestyle)

When we submit to allowing God to bring about this kind of inner change, it will be like the light of day breaking upon a dark night… it will bring security and hope where there previously was fear and despair.

This is the kind of hope that many people are seeking, but they look for it in all the wrong places. It will not be found in anything the world has to offer us. It can only be found in a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. I dare you to give Him an honest opportunity to change your life. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did.

About Dented-Knight

A knight with polished, shining, perfect armor is typically one with no battle experience. It is the knight in dented armor that knows what it costs to win.
