Friend of foe?

Read Psalm 41

Focus on verse 7

People to stand for truth and righteousness will often find that there are people out there who do not approve. It is not difficult to determine why there is opposition to truth. It is because truth undermines the power of deception, so when those whose power is based upon deception encounter people who will not compromise truth, there is an immediate conflict of worldviews. Since people who stand for truth and righteousness typically do not attack there enemies, but seek to transform them though love, it becomes a rather one-sided affair as the perpetrators of deception have no such principles.

King David found that there were those in his kingdom who would have celebrated the king’s demise because they hated him and everything he stood for. His response is not to lash back at them, but to cling to the promises of the Lord that assured Him that He would be vindicated.
