Read Psalm 110

Focus on verse 4

Few things in this world are changeless. There are some things, which change very slowly, so it may seem that they do not change, but even the granite cliffs of the rock of Gibraltar are slowly worn away by the elements. People also change. I am not the same person I was several years ago. Our surroundings change when we move from place to place. Our families change as children grow up and parents age and die. The only thing that remains unchanged is the Truth of God’s word, as well as His character. God is the one consistent entity that remains unchanged in regard to His character and His word.

In today’s reading David writes, “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind.” In other words when God has it in His mind to do something there is nothing that will change His mind. When He says He will do something it is as good as done as He is not one to change His mind. There is a certain amount of security that we can find in the unchanging nature of God. It means that we can trust his word, and we can trust in Him to keep that which He has committed to us in regard to His promises.
