Focus…

IC88CF45C-A0D7-44D0-A313-64EF4BE5F2F2 was driving on the freeway, a flat, straight stretch of road. It was actually kind of boring, so I began to look around. I saw a field of corn on one side, and a pasture with a few cows grazing under the shade of a clump of trees on the other. I noticed something else. I had to make a conscious effort to avoid steering the car in the direction I was a looking. Funny how that works…we more toward the object of our focus. Sounds to me like Solomon had that figured out as well.

27 If you search for good, you will find favor;
but if you search for evil, it will find you!

Proverbs 11:27 (NLT)

This principle of moving in the direction of our focus is true of most any area of life. This is why it becomes tremendously important what we are focusing on. Many of the business self help material mentions this principle as well. We tend to gravitate toward whatever it is that occupies the most time in our mind. Business coaches encourage people who want to succeed in their business to set goals for the business and then focus intently on achieving them. If a person sets small incremental goals and begins achieving them, one might be surprised at how successful the business becomes.
